This is a problem which affects millions of people around the world and the symptoms can be taken care of but there is really nothing to eliminate this problem. Migraines are brought on for several reasons and the only thing which can help people who suffer with migraines is to identify what causes it. Most persons do get to know when a migraine is coming on and if they take necessary precautions can prevent it from becoming a full blown attack. Migraines can last up to 3 days and can drain a person out completely. Sometimes it is accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea and sensitivity to light. If the person gets dehydrated with loss of fluids they may need to be put on intravenous drips to get back to normal.
Though migraine sufferers can make out when one is coming on, they do not know what triggers it , it could be stress, eating the wrong things like cheese, chocolate and too much of coffee, in women during period times and even just plain sleeping too much. Sometimes loud music and noise can bring on the most excruciating migraine, while nothing happens even with high decibel levels at other times. There is nothing specific which can make a bad migraine come on, but if there is a particular pattern then the person can learn to overcome the situation.
A migraine is the swelling of the artery which is at the temple just below the skin. There are chemical changes when this starts and this causes the pain, this becomes a vicious circle as there are more chemicals released because of the pain. This finally affects the digestive system and vomiting and diarrhea set in too.
As the actual cause is not known only treatment can be prescribed but no prevention is known. There are medications which help a migraine and sleeping it off helps. Botox is supposed to help a migraine as it interrupts the pathway of the pain. Many persons who suffer with migraine have found relief with vitamin B2 taken regularly. Even if a migraine does come on it is milder and the person does not suffer too much.
